When we are talking about "Design for Life" there are probably many things that needs to be questioned, left could very well be right. The objective of DesignBoost - Made in [Arnhem] is to make everybody question, reach awareness and think in new paths when it comes to creating better lives for lots of people. This is after all the ultimate goal for all design.

Ineke Hans, Industrial designer
Since graduating from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem (NL) in 1991 and the Royal College of Art in London in 1995, Ineke Hans’ work has evolved in many ways, acquiring the identity most clearly of a designer, with the impulses of a sculptor, and the industrial experience needed to define products with a commercial life. Her work investigates the psychological roots of products, perceiving and playing with the interaction between people and objects. It centres around the pictogram and archetype.

Joost Alferink, Designer
Maverick best describes Joost Alferink (1964). A graduate of the Technical University Delft, Alferink is principally a product & interior designer whose forte is design consultancy. He doesn’t believe in penultimates. There’s nothing special about being a designer. As far as he’s concerned, what one does for a living is unimportant. What’s important is how one feels about what one does. Whatever it is I’m engaged in, I’m essentially addressing the question: Who am I? Alferink seeks inspiration in irritation (like the pearl and the oyster). Emotion is his catalyst. (text for waacs by meghan ferrill).

Anna Maria Orru, Ecological Architect & Research Curator
Anna Maria Orru has worked with a wide range of prestigious firms including Arup, Grimshaw Architects, Shigeru Ban and Exploration Architecture as an architect and research curator. The foundation of her ecological work is embedded in biomimicry, future scenario building, and systems thinking, providing an innovative approach in the field of sustainable design through ‘out-of-the-box’ multi-disciplinary collaborations and R&D. She believes that a better future, one that is resilient, resource-abundant and conducive to life, lies in the knowledge banks of nature’s elegant, imaginative and creative solutions, and is currently investigating food as a tool for these design paradigm shifts.
DesignBoost - Made in [Arnhem] is a collaboration between Designboost, Museum voor Moderne Kunst Arnhem, ArtEZ hogeschool voor de kunsten, Premsela and City of Arnhem.
